YouTube Integration Guide
This guide provides a detailed walkthrough for integrating your YouTube channel with Chatvolt. By connecting your YouTube channel, your AI agent can monitor video comments and automatically respond to them, helping you engage with your audience 24/7.
🛑 Pre-requisite: Shared Google Credentials
Chatvolt uses a unified Google Integration for both YouTube and Google Drive. This means both integrations share the same Client ID and Client Secret obtained from the Google Cloud Console.
If you have already configured these credentials for the Google Drive Integration, you can skip the setup steps and go directly to Connecting Your YouTube Channel.

Critical Steps for YouTube
While following the Google Drive guide, ensure you pay extra attention to these two YouTube-specific requirements:
1. Add YouTube Scopes
During the OAuth Consent Screen setup (Step 3 in the Google Drive guide), you must add the following scopes:

2. Add YouTube Redirect URI
In the Credentials section of your Google Cloud Project (Step 5 in the Google Drive guide), add this additional Redirect URI to your Web Client:
📹 Phase 2: Connecting Your YouTube Channel
Once your shared Google OAuth keys are configured in Settings > My Keys, follow these steps to link your channel:
- Select Your Agent: Navigate to the Agents page and select the agent you want to manage your YouTube community.
- Access Deployment: Go to the Deploy tab.
- Open YouTube Settings: Locate the YouTube card and click Settings.
- Authorize Access: Click the Connect YouTube Channel button. You will be redirected to the Google selection screen.
- Permissions: Select the Google account associated with your YouTube channel and grant all requested permissions.
- Confirmation: You will be redirected back to Chatvolt, where your channel will now appear as “Connected”.
⚙️ Phase 3: Managing Video Monitoring
Connecting your channel is only the first step. You must now tell the agent which videos it should “watch”.
1. The Video List
In the YouTube Settings within your agent, you will see a list of your most recent videos. For each video, you have the following options:
- Monitor Toggle: Turn this ON to allow the agent to read and reply to new comments on that specific video.
- Manual Sync: Click the refresh icon to force the agent to check for new comments immediately.
2. Keyword Triggers (Optional)
You can set up a specific behavior for comments containing a certain “magic word”:
- Keyword: Enter a word or phrase (e.g., “Interested”, “Price”, “Demo”).
- AI Prompt for Keyword: Provide a specific instruction or a pre-defined answer that the agent should use ONLY when that keyword is detected.
- Example: If the keyword is “Discount”, the prompt could be: “Give the user the coupon code SAVE20 and explain how to use it.”
🕒 How the Syncing Works
- Automatic Polling: Chatvolt checks for new comments on monitored videos approximately every 5 minutes.
- Agent Context: When the agent replies, it “sees” the video title and the comment thread (including previous replies) to ensure the conversation remains coherent.
- History Registration: All interactions made by the agent on YouTube are automatically logged in the agent’s Inbox, allowing you to keep track of every response.
💡 Best Practices
- Avoid Double-Posting: If you manually reply to a comment on YouTube, the agent will detect your reply and stop trying to answer that specific comment.
- Testing: Enable monitoring on an older video first and post a test comment to see how the agent handles the interaction before enabling it for new, high-traffic videos.
- Instructions: Ensure your Agent’s General Instructions include how it should behave on YouTube (e.g., “Be helpful but concise, and use emojis to stay friendly”).
